Three Great Ways to Lose Body Fat

If you are on a diet to lose weight, you probably want to reduce your BMI (Body Mass Index) as well. Fiber lowers cholesterol and your risk for diabetes, heart disease and stroke.  Eating fiber also helps to break down that stubborn visceral fat, especially around your midsection. Remember to add the additional fiber gradually to let your digestive system’s bacteria and enzymes adjust and avoid discomfort such as gas and bloating.

  1. Eat More Whole Grains

Substituting refined grains for whole grains is one of the easiest ways to lose body fat. Whole grains taste better, and there is a huge variety to choose from. In a scientific study, people who ate all whole grains (in addition to five servings of fruits and vegetables, three servings of low-fat dairy, and two servings of lean meat, fish, or poultry) lost more body fat than another group that ate the same diet, but with all refined grains. Eating a whole grain diet will cause your body’s glucose and insulin reactions to improve and your body will burn more excess fat.

  1. Eat the Right Fats

Trans fats are to be avoided. Replacing them with monounsaturated fats instead is another of the ways to lose body fat. Trans fats contribute to your body retaining fat, but the “good fats”, such as those found in chocolate, soybeans, nuts, seeds and avocados actually metabolize in the body and do not deposit in fat cells as the trans fats do. Avoid foods that contain partially hydrogenated oils, and go for the “no trans fats” labels instead.

These dietary changes are obviously not the only ways to lose body fat. If you incorporate them with other lifestyle changes such as a regular exercise routine and low calorie meal plan you are well on your way to a healthier  slimmed down body.
